In the words of Nadje Noordhuis, “Lisa Parrott has a zest for life and one of the most generous spirits that I've ever encountered. And through her saxophones, she relentlessly expresses these characteristics as well as a feeling of pure joy.”
I wrote this tune in 1990, but this is a Covid-19 version with me playing four different parts on alto saxophone. It's only short...
This is a shortened arrangement with multiple bari sax parts and a shaker. Seven has been my favorite time signature for about 30 years now and this tune combines layers of sevens and fives. This was written for our wonderful panther cat Gargoyle, who passed away in 2016.
Recorded in Brooklyn NY, June 29th 2020 at Cakerats studio, aka the Whisper Room recording booth in our apartment.
Lisa 'Paz' Parrott on alto sax. I recorded myself playing along with @joaoboscoreal & @hamiltondeholanda - heaps of fun! I've been loving and listening to Joao's music for more than 20 years and Hamilton’s music after seeing him at Summerstage in NYC in 2018. And now after seeing great versions of this tune by two favorite musicians of mine @anatcohenmusic and @varijashree, I had to join in! Maybe I should do a bass clarinet or bari sax one too later..? #womeninjazz #vegemite #brasil
